If you are a Canadian teacher using the Canadian Language Benchmarks in your classroom, our CLB filter tool will allow you to narrow your search quickly.

Here is a video explaining how to find our CLB content:

Step-by-Step Instructions

You can also follow the instructions below to locate and use the CLB filter tool.

Step 1

Log in to your account here:

Step 2

Once you've logged in successfully, click on "My Account" underneath your name in the top right corner.

Step 3

On your account page at the bottom of your profile information, you can see if CLB levels are set to show when they're available. Note that this will only appear if you are signed up as a Canadian teacher.

Step 4

To turn this CLB filter on or off, click the "Edit Profile" button to the right.

Step 5

On your Edit Profile page, ensure that your country is set to Canada. Then check or uncheck the box underneath (depending on whether or not you want CLB levels to show for available lessons). Now click the "Save" button.

Step 6

You will find the CLB filter in the following lesson categories:

Grammar & Writing

Everyday English

Business, Travel & Holidays

Young Learners & Literacy

  • Word Bank (no CLB filter, but still applicable)

Step 7

When you click on the CLB filter, the lessons will sort into the primary skill competency (i.e., Interacting With Others, Comprehending Instructions, Giving Instructions, Reproducing Information, Getting Things Done, Comprehending Information, or Sharing Information).

Step 8

You will also see that each lesson is graded at a particular CLB level range (1–12). Our updated lessons also now feature integrated assessment tools so that teachers don’t have to print a separate form from the Resources section (though many teachers still prefer to create their own using our blank templates).

We hope the CLB filter tool is helpful in your class! Please contact us if you have any difficulties, questions, or feedback.
